Artist Statement:
When I paint, my goal is to capture the beauty, power, and joy I see in God’s creation and in the people around me. I started out drawing portraits and cartoons as a kid, and over time I found so much meaning in creating work that preserves special memories—whether it’s someone’s loved one, a pet, or a favorite place. Seeing how much joy and connection those portraits brought to others showed me how powerful art can be. In recent years, I’ve also been drawn to the sky. Sunsets, storms, and light breaking through clouds feel like glimpses of something greater—reminders of God’s presence. Many of my paintings start with a loose idea or passage of Scripture and then unfold on the canvas, often surprising me along the way. I love that balance between careful detail in portrait work and the freedom of painting skies—it keeps me inspired and connected to both people and creation. The intention behind my work is simple: I want to spark joy, create meaningful reminders, and point back to the Creator. At the heart of it all, I paint out of gratitude—for the gift I’ve been given, and for the chance to share it with others.
