Mercia Steinborn

Artist Bio:

Mercia Steinborn is a sophomore at UCF majoring in Advertising/Public Relations and double-minoring in Studio Art and Business Administration. Having grown up in Lake Nona, she is excited to have the opportunity to display her artwork in the area she knows and loves so well. Mercia's passion for drawing began when she was very young—As an elementary school student, she used to spend all her free time drawing photos from library books and practicing shading techniques, and honestly, not much has changed since then. As Mercia looks ahead to the future, her long-term goal is to use her skills in art, design, communication, and creative storytelling to work in nonprofit marketing/PR, particularly with a focus on disability advocacy.

Artist Statement:

As a traditional artist, I tend to gravitate towards art mediums that offer a high level of precision and intricacy. Whether I’m drawing photorealistic charcoal portraits or rendering tiny details with a ballpoint pen, I find a lot joy and beauty in the ordinary details that people often overlook. When I draw, my goal is to capture reality as accurately as I can, and I especially love creating portraits of my friends and family as a means of honoring their importance in my life. My organized and systematic art style reflects my own personality and approach to life, and I hope that my work can help others slow down and appreciate all the beautiful intricacies that I have grown to love.
