Artist Bio:
Rebecca Mercedes is a Latina visual artist with a diverse background in both traditional and digital art forms, including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design, and photography. She possesses a versatile skill set, allowing her to employ various tools and techniques across her projects. Rebecca creates both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works, always aiming to produce compelling, functional, and intricately detailed pieces. Rebecca earned an Associate of Science Degree with a specialization in Graphic Design from Valencia College in 2022. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art with a minor in Art History at the University of Central Florida. With a commitment to furthering her education, she aspires to pursue a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Fine Arts. Ultimately, Rebecca aims to work as a creative director, leveraging her diverse artistic background to lead innovative projects.
Artist Statement:
In my artistic practice, I strive to capture fleeting moments in time, using a variety of mediums, whether it be paint, collage, or photography. While I value the importance of space and form in my work, my primary focus is on the emotions they evoke. Each piece serves as a reflection of my personal experiences or an exploration of the emotions I encounter in daily life. I believe that art has the power to convey complex feelings and narratives, transcending words. By manipulating color, texture, and composition, I aim to create a visceral connection with the viewer, inviting them to engage with the work on a deeper level. Whether I’m drawing from my own experiences or interpreting an emotion, I seek to create a dialogue that resonates universally. Ultimately, my goal is to prompt the audience to think, encouraging them to pause and reflect. Through my art, I aim to foster empathy and understanding by connecting personal experiences with shared emotions, transforming fleeting moments into lasting impressions
