Artist Bio:
My name is Sabrina Herrera I am a Cuban-American Animation student currently attending the University of Central Florida. I plan to do a multitude of things in the future. I am always the kind of person who wants to try new things so if it is something I'm able to try then you will find me there putting in my all to check it out. My main passion other than animation would be comic book creation. I absolutely love creating stories about a multitude of concepts and genres. A piece of media that allows me to not only showcase my art but to also showcase my ideas and story telling abilities? Now that's something that gets me excited. Other than comic creation I have recently ignited a passion in stop motion and would love to explore more about that medium of art. As of now I am currently creating a comic to share with the masses and will hope to grow my audience even larger in the future so that they can enjoy my stories as much as I do. Whether it by comic creation or any form of animation I know I'll be making something meaningful for many people.
Artist Statement:
The intention behind my artwork is create something that could be described as "scratching an itch" as in I enjoy incorporating a mass amount of texture into the majority of my artworks to convey this kind of effect and or feeling. Magic and fantasy play a big part into my inspirations because that's a form of media I consume the most. Whether it may be books, shows, or whatever it may be, if it includes some sort of magic then it's something I'll enjoy and most likely use as inspiration for my artworks. Fantasy playing a big part isn't the only concept behind my art work though. It many not be in many but I like to hide a hidden message and or meaning in my works themselves. Some of these meanings ranging from self discovery and personal issues so always look deeper than to what meets the eye. Lastly I am a grand fan of emotional and bittersweet works and concepts which is why a lot of my works may leave a bittersweet feeling. Whether it be saying a final goodbye or waiting for someone who may not return just a piece of work that invokes feeling in you.
